Another story which is known to be true happened in Clonlara. A soldier returning from England one evening tired and travelled strained he at last reached this village and being so weary he could not travel further that night finding no accomadition in the village he lid down on a heap of dry leaves and soon fell in to a troubled sleep. He was soon awakened however by a light tap on his forehead, and starting up he saw a dim figure which he knew was his dead wife flitting like a shadow before him.- Collector
