- St Martin's day is on the 11th of November. Everybody kills a fowl on this day - usually a cock or a goose. They spill the blood in honour of St Martin. The blood is rubbed on to a piece of cloth and kept up as a cure for a pain in the side.
Many people in this district do not use a car or anything with wheels on this day. Some people would not sew with a machine. This is because people think that St Martin was caught in the wheels of a mill and was cut to pieces.
