Grange school known as the "kiln field". The stones were quarried down in Ballydeague, and sometimes they were brought across the river from Bridgetown. We can still see the remains of the limekilns.
    Spinning. Weaving and dyeing:-
Up to sixty years ago every house had its spinning wheel. There were two flax wheels in the locality. Each housekeeper made her own thread. The wool was shorn from the sheep and it was spun by a spinning wheel. Then it was sent to the dyer and it was dyed. Then it was sent to a weaver and it was woven into flannel. There was one weaver in Ballydeague. There was a mill at the "Tucker's Bridge" Killavullen about a mile from the school. It was driven by water power. Frieze and flannel were also made locally. The mill was owned by the O Connors.
