- When St Patrick was in the parish of Aughagower there was a man living in a village called Cluain Da Chon. He always kept two hounds and he was a wicked man. One day when St Patrick was passing through the village he set his two hounds on him. St Patrick made the sign of the cross and the ground opened and swallowed the two hounds. Since that it is call Cluain Da Chon.
