    The race course is still there, but now the railway line runs through it, and the grand stand with its stone man is still in good order, but is used only as a play-ground by a farmers lambs. Danish forts are very numerous in Breaffy district showing that it was a place of importance in ancient times and on a hill side in the road to Castlebar there is a cave the hill is known as Cave Hill.
    For many years Breaffy district was little more than a ranch but now most of the land is divided up into holding with nice white cottages. English
