    They had a "coob" on one side of the house for the hens by night. They had a half door outside the big door to keep out the hens in the day time.
    The light at that time consisted of splinters made of bog-dale, which each person held in turn. Next to this came moulds, they melted the fat of the sheep and other animals and poured it into the mould. When cool and hard they made candles of it and used them for light.
