    old proverb related concerning a magpie "one for sorrow, two for joy, three for a wedding and four for to die."
    It was considered that the meeting of a red haired person setting out on a journey, was a sign that a person would not succeed in his travels. If a bird flapped his wings against the window, it was a sign of death. Thirteen persons never sat down to a table together. If two hens were seen fighting, it was a sign the visitors were to come.
    There are natural signs which every person believes in. A rainbow is a sign of rain. If the evening is grey and the morning is red, it makes the sailor shake his head,
