    Again astonished & amazed
    Upon their (?) lines I gazed
    My feelings I did scrutinise
    To see could I believe my eyes.

    Deluded thus by energy
    Or some shy maiden much the same
    As what they call "McKenna's drame"
    But quite contrary to my wish
    The strong were there the weak to crush
    With rifle & buckshot supplied
    Which they received with brutish pride.

    'Twas after a long & silent pause
    I asked a man what was the cause
    Of this commotion & display
    Or would it be a battle-day.

    "We're occupiers of the land

    "Served with ejectment we will be
    To have us from our homes expelled
    Where hitherto our fathers dwelled
    And where in infancy we were
    The objects of parental care"
