“There is a fort in the townland of Derrycahill. ...”
There is a fort in the townland of Derrycahill. It is supposed by the people who live there to have been built by the Danes. It is circular in shape and is built of earth. There was only one entrance to it. It is situated about one hundred yards from the Suck. The old people believed that a treasure was buried in this fort, and that enchanted cats were guarding it. The people who live near it do not interfere, with it in any way. They do not dig or till it, nor do they take away any soil from it. There are no bushes or trees of any kind(continues on next page)- Collector
