  1. Hatheen's Tree
    In a field near the roadside at Ballintubber, there grew a large chestnut tree. It was supposed to be growing on a "fairy pa[?]" and on that account, no person would eat a branch from it.
    After some time the owner of the field died and the new owner sold the tree to a timber merchant. He sent two men to cut down the tree. So the moment it fell to the ground, a wind rose up out of it and blew with such violence that it went across the country in a straight line and blew down everything that came in [?] path.
