- In Summer a certain class of people, called tinkers go around from house to house buying and selling. The women carry baskets with them and in the baskets are cans, pictures, saucepans, strainers, and a lot of other things. The men carry a budget with them, and they can mend cans and other things. If they can get any old horses or old asses they buy them. The tinkers are always at fairs and they sell all the old horses and old asses. With the money they get for them, they get drunk, and they quarrel. Tinkers are very clever, because once a tinker bought an old ass from a man(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
