    a public house and arrange the match afterwards some of the girls friends would go to the boys house to see his place and consider the fortune, and appoint a day for the Marriage. Then the Wedding takes place and both parties and their friends go to the boys house for the breakfast or supper which ever the case may be. The first thing that is done is to break the wedding cake on the bride's head. Then the breakfast is served. Fowl ham sweet cake all kinds of bread and the best of drinks. The wedding cake is then cut by the bride and bridegroom and divided amongst the guests, some of them keep it and play a trick with it. Then the strawboys arrive. They are dressed and disguised with big straw hats on their heads. If they are mannerly they are treated very decently and they come in and dance and sing.
