- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)and girl were leaving the house to go to the church, a person out of the family went out some time before them, and turned back riding on a donkey so as to meet them; in order to bring them luck.
Most newly married people like to meet a donkey on the way home. When the bride was going into her new home some one broke the wedding-cake on her head.
When a girl was preparing for her marriage she did not get new rocks, she considered it luckier to wear an old one on her wedding day.
In these days there was no wedding without straw-boys or rag boys. Dancing was carried on in the barn, and the captain of the boys always asked the bride to dance with him. then the floor was cleared and the straw-boys danced for the pressure of the guests.- Bailitheoir
