    grated potatoes into a basin, and they kneaded it up with what ever kind of flour they had.
    They made the potato cakes with boiled potatoes and then they kneaded it with very little flour, and if they wanted to make it strong they would put a cup of milk through it. Then they rolled it out with a rolling pin or a bottle until they had it a half an-inch thick. Then they used to cut it into four equal parts, and they used to put it down on the pan to bake. All this bread was baked without a lid.
    They baked the oat-meal cakes standing up near the fire on a griddle, and it used to be very nice when they used to take it up.
