    In the year 1935 a wedding took place in Aran on Wednesday for the people say this rhyme is true:

    The night before the wedding the man to be married goes around and throws his cap in the window of a house of a certain girl. If the girl is going to get married the man of the house opens the door for him to come in, if she is not, he throws the cap out again.
    The girl's father had to give the bridegroom money when she gets married. The bride and groom went to the Church at four o'clock in the evening. After the marriage they went to the bridegroom's house and had a great spread. After they had finished eating and drinking they danced. There were about one hundred people there. It lasted all night long. In the middle of the night the straw-boys came. They were all dressed up in straw, and the leader danced with the bride and then the others danced with her.
    When the people were going home in the morning which was about four o'clock. They raced each other on horses. The men and wives rode on the
