One day he was cutting hay for a man named Burke and Burke told him that he would give him a pound when he would have the hay mowed. Burke thought he would be six or seven days cutting the hay and that it was better to give him the pound at first. He had the hay mowed in four days.
He was very sorry when he did not give him four shilling each day instead of the pound.
