- Cloonmore was once a historical district. According to tradition it was once one of the most magnificent places in Connaught.In Cloonmore there was a college. In the college the students sowed their own corn. When the corn was ripe they reaped it, saved it, and ground it into flour. They also baked their own bread.After a period of time the college was changed into a catholic church. In it there resided a bishop whom they named Bishop Phillips. Beside this catholic church there was a graveyard. The portion of land in which the graveyard was, is now owned by Thomas Lavin. In Cloonmore there was, and is still, a blessed well. This blessed well was founded by a blind man from the north who dreamt that if he came to Cloonmore and bathed his eyes with the water in the well he would have his sight restored. This man continued his journey to Cloonmore and when he got to this blessed(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
