- The names of our fields are " Piosa na t-Óirne " or the bit of the barley. It was so called because once there was barley sowed and it grew so big that they could hardly put it in stookes.Another one is called " Móinéir Beag " because when it was a meadow the grass never grew no bigger than six or seven inches.Another one on Hughes land is called " Jacks Hill " because near there a man lived there name Jack and after he died he was seen there and some people when they are coming home late see a black dog there.Another one is called " Mullach na Damhsaoi " or the " Hill of Dances " it was so called because in olden times before there was any hall the young people used to dance out in the fields and that was one place where they used to dance.Another one is called " Spodach " because it is very wet and " Spodach " means wet.A stream runs through our field and through McCormack field and under(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
