    the graveyard and this is said to be the opening of a passage which leads to the castle.
    It was beside "the Roy" that a great chieftain, who fought a battle with two defenders of the castle, lived. This battle was fought on the lands which John Philips of Doobeg now owns. There is an old cross in the Roy which bears the following inscription, Pray for the soul of Catherine Scanlon, who died 1815. There are very old tombs belonging to the McDonnells of Doocastle and some of the inhabitants of the castle, in the "Roy".
    The second graveyard is in townland of Cloonameehan. A few years ago there was an addition put to it. There was a crucifix
