    brancake, and yellow meal cake. Sometimes they had tea at one of the meals. The oatmeal bread was made from oatmeal, water, and salt and it was baked before the fire.
    Long ago the people hardly ever ate fresh meat. Pigs’ cheek was the kind of meat that was eaten. They killed their own pigs and cured them. The people ate a lot of vegetables long ago.On Easter Sunday people had a goose or a turkey for the dinner. The ate a lot of eggs on that day also. On St. Martin’s Day they always had some kind of fowl for the dinner. They used to have a special tea on November’s night. They used to have a big feast on Christmas Eve. They always had a goose for the dinner on Christmas Day. They used mugs or saucepans which were called porringers to drink from long ago.
