- The Coming of the French to Kilcummin August 1798.
- Humbert's Stone. -
It was a bright harvest morning when the people of Kilcummin first caught sight of the French ships in Killala bay. Many of the people around were ignorant of the happening in other areas. At that time the Protestants represented to them the sole source of protection and the people of the Kilcummin district immediately took shelter with the Robinson of Banagher, the Palmers of Summerhill, and the Knox's of Palmers town. However a few went to the shore to find out what was happening. Captain Kane and General Humbert were the first two who came ashore.
Captain Kane was of Irish descent(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
