“St. Patrick visited Killala and converted King Amlaidh, his twelve sons and a few thousand people at a spot called "Tobar an aon Adharc" near the shore at Killala Bay.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)The majority of the many churches which were built around Killala would perhaps be still standing but for the fact that the stones were removed by the people in the neighbourhood. They have been used for the building of houses and fences and it is said that it was usually those of planted stock who used the stones.
- Along the road leading to Mullagh Corn (?) in P.J. O'Reilly's land there are the remains of a mound - Mullach Chairn (?) from which the place derives its name. Tradition says that it was here King Amhlaigh lived before St. Patrick's time and whose name has been give to the entire barony.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
