When Pat set out for home it was starting to get(wet) dark so he decided to spend the night in his parents house which was nearer than his own house. When he came to his aunts house he told her how valuable the ass was and then he went to bed. In the middle of the night his aunt got up and went out to the stable and took away Pats ass and put another one in its place. When Pat got up in the morning and got the wrong ass he thought it was his own because the ass that he got was very much like his own. So he went home not knowing that he had been fooled. When he arrived his mother asked him for the money. But when Pat told her that the ass could lay gold she didn't want any money. She layed out a white sheet and they put the ass in the middle of it. Then Pat said "Lay gold." But didnt obey and his mother put him to bed without any supper. The mother said that he would go to the fair the next day and sell the pig. The next day Pat was up early again and he set off for the fair with the pig. In the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
