- The old people say that long ago there were no fairs held near this place when a man wanted a cow he went to a neighbour and bought her. Sometimes the landlord bought cows and he gave whatever he liked for her that is he gave [wh] his own price not the sellers even though the owner did not want to part with the animal.
Once upon a time a man was going to a fair a long distance off with a cow in the early morning. He saw lights on the way before him he thought that they were people going to the fair. He shouted to them to wait but they paid no heed to him. So the man kept walking quicker and quicker so as to catch up to them. But when he came near all the lights vanished of a sudden. The man kept walking and walking until at last he reached the fair. He sold the cow and got eight pound for her. Then he returned home again.
