- Once upon a time there was a witch living in the parish of Knockmore convenient to Lough Conn.
She had a valuable cow and for many years she kept giving her milk and one day the witch milked her through a riddle and she ceased giving milk.
The witch was so vexed that she beat the cow into the lake and when she went out a certain distance in the lake she turned (rock) into a (rock) that rock is to be seen that there yet and it is called the "cow rock."- Collector
