- St. Bridget's Day is on the first February. On St. Bridget's Night the people make a cross of straw or rushes and they hang it on the roof, to honor St. Bridget. The small children of this place go out with the "Bríghidheóg" on the night before St. Bridget's Day. They make straw hats and they get white dresses and they put them on them. Then they get a stick and they go from house to house gathering pennies to bury "Biddy"
They say the following rhyme:
"Bríghidheógín, Bríghidheógín, dressed in white, Give us a penny in honour of Bridget tonight."
And some of them say this rhyme: St Bridget, St Bridget, dressed in white Give us a penny to bury Biddy to night, They are supposed to be gathering pennies to bury 'Biddy'"- Bailitheoir
