- The graveyard in our parish is called Kilmurray. There is a town land called Rake Street about three hundred yards from it. Altogether there are two graveyards in the Parish of Crossmolina, Kilmurray graveyard and the Church graveyard. Two priests and an archdeacon were buried in the Church grounds.
Long ago when a person died his relations carried the coffin on their shoulders to the graveyard and if the dead person had no relatives the corpse was carried on a horse car.
They say that it is not lucky to carry the remains of a dead person, the nearest way to the graveyard. the old people say it is nor tight to pass a place(continues on next page)- Collector
