- Long ago in Lismore people worked at six o'clock in the morning, before having food.
Each meal consisted of potatoes and sour milk. When taking their meals people sat around the table in the centre of the floor.
Bread made of barm and potato yeast was used long ago. Stirabout mixed with turnips was also eaten.
People ate potatoes late at night before going to bed. On Shrove Tuesday people ate pancakes, and on Hallowe'en nuts and apples and a barm brack were eaten. The vessels used long ago were called piggins.(continues on next page)- Collector
