  1. (continued from previous page)
    Few cities rivalled thee asthroe,
    In Erin's golden age,
    Amid thy denizens were thronged,
    The Poet Saint and Sage.
'Mid yonder zone of Mountains blue,
That decks thee as a crown,
Rears high in air his regal head,
    Majestic Knokmealdown.
But when at eve' the silver beams,
    Rush from Diana's arms,
Could Reuben's brush and Spencer's pen,
    Do justice to thy charms.
    No let Conception soar aloft,
Till Sun and stars grow cold,
    Thy beauties still remain untouched,
    Thy glories still untold.

    Composed for,
    Mother Mary Carthage R.I.P.
