- There is a ruined castle not far from the school. It is called Shean Castle. They say it is nearly 300 years old. It is in the townland called Shean or Shean More of Coismore and Cois Brigide, Co. Waterford.
It was a Desmond castle and belonged to Maurice Fitzgerald, son of the Earl of Desmond. The Desmonds were defeated in the wars the time of Old Queen Bess and most of their castles were destroyed.
Nobody lived in Shean Castle for hundreds of years. There is not much of it standing now, for people took away lots of stones from it for building purposes.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
