    castle in Dalkey street to Bulock castle. It is said that before the Danes finaley left Ireland Dalkey was the last place they held. The story runs like this.
    When the Danes were flung from the battle with Brian Boru they came to Bulock castle. They had in Bulock a store of golden vessels stolen from the surrounding Monasteries. Seeing the Irish pursuing they fled through the tunnel until they reached Dalkey. As they were fleeing they hid the gold in the tunnel. The pursuing Irish knew nothing of this secret tunnel and thought the Danes had gone off in their boats.
