    half-crown for both, but Michael said his mother told him not to take the first price but to take the second. When the man heard this he went away and was back again in a few minutes. He then told Michael he would give him one shilling and sixpence, Michael took it and set off for home again. When he came into the house he told her the whole story about what he told the buyer and all. His mother said to him "You are the silliest boy I ever saw. So she gave him a good beating and sent him to bed without his supper. I can tell you she never sent him out to buy or sell anything from that day until the day she died.

    Here comes I, Saint George, from England have I sprung.

    Seven long years in a close cave have I kept,
    And out of that into a prison leapt,
    And out of that into a block of stone,
    Where I made many a sad and grievous moan:
