    flowers around the doors. It is supposed to bring them good luck. Bonfires are lighted on May Eve.
    On Hallow Eve people make mashed potatoes and butter for dinner. They bake potato bread. At night people have dancing and singing. Cakes, nuts and apples are eaten. It is an old custom for boys and girls to burn nuts in the ashes to see if they will be married.
    On Christmas Day there is much merriment and feasting. Men go out shooting. The following day is St. Stephen's Day or Boxing Day. On Christmas Eve men and boys go from house to house dancing & singing. They are called Mummers and they collect money which is divided among them.
