   18. The earliest name I can trace among the landlords was a man named Stewart. From what I can learn he was a comparatively good landlord There were no evictions in the district during his time as Landlord. Generally I think he is remembered as a 'good' man.
   The estate was then taken over by a Captain Leatham I think he was Landlord for only a short time as I can find out nothing about him as a Landlord. This Captain Leatham had a sister who was married to a lawyer named Woodhouse. I have been told that Woodhouse claimed the three townlands of Carrowheel, Gortcally + Dunmore as a marriage settlement so Woodhouse then became landlord of the greater part of this district.
   Woodhouse it appears was very interested in the district and had hopes of some day seeing it quite an important place. He believed that the district was rich in minerals. He is said have had it surveyed and mapped and was supposed to have discussed a vein of coal in the townland of Gortcally in a district now known as Devlinstown. The exact spot of this vein of coal was said to have been marked on the
