- There was once a man called Patrick Gallagher who bought the land round Dunwiley Fort. One day he went with his horses to plough the land.
When the horses came to the fort they stopped there and they died. Patrick tried a second time but not with horses this time but with cows. But the same happened.
Some time after Patrick was told that the ground was "gentle."
Another time Patrick thought he would tumble down the wall that was round the fort. He sent his men with carts to take the stones home in. When the men tumbled the wall they put the stones into the carts. When the men were going up the lane the horses stopped and died. Patrick said that two signs were enough for him.- Collector
