- An DrochshaolThere was a road being made at Conal Mc Dermotts Meencrimblin in the parish of Stranorlar. It was made to give employment. It being made through a field where potatoes were set. Their pay was these potatoes. At that time every man had a wooden hat and if he got the full of his hat he thought he had an extra day's pay. The potatoes were so small that they had to be sown like corn. The next year they had to split the potatoes to boil them.
