    In the time of the Penal Laws there was a Protestant man named Tony Will Kyle, who lived in Mournebeg near Castlederg. This man could not be shot, for one time he shot off the steps below his own house a ghost that was in the shape of a dog. This thing put everybody off the steps.

    Not long after this there was a priest being chased by soldiers, and while entering Kyle’s house, Kyle told him not to fear. Then Kyle took down his gun and put the table in the door, and standing behind the table he would not let the soldiers in. Then he told the soldiers that he could show them a priest’s head. Turning round he said to the priest, “Put your head over my shoulder.” The priest did so, and the soldiers had to give him five pounds. It was
