- Potatoes are grown on our farm.We sow about an acre each year. My father prepares the ground. The potatoes are sown in drills, these drills are made with a plough. If the potato seed is too big they are cut. Sometimes the local people help each other in sowing the potatoes. While the crop is growing. It is sprayed and grubbed. When the potatoes are ready children and paid hands gather them. Then they are put in puts. British Queens are best for eating. Erne Banners grow biggest but are bad for eating they are usually sent to the alch of factory.
