- Shops were not common in olden times. If any person wanted anything they had to go to St. Johnston or Derry. I never heard of buying after mass. Eggs and butter were given for goods and people will do this. The market was held in Derry. We use these words boot tick change but we do not use "can't". No days were considered unlucky.
Men used to go round collecting feathers and rags, they still come round for rags.
