The drills are manured and the potatoes are sown. A plough is used. There are no wooden ploughs left. The local people do not help one another. During the summer they are grubed and then the potatoes are hoed and moulded and then sprayed about a fortnight after. They dig them in Autumn. The farmers pay people for gathering the potatoes. The potatoes are stored in pits. This is the local names given to the potatoes :-
Kerrs-pinks, Arran banners, Majestics, Ruby, Queens, Up - to - Dates, Royal Kidneys, King Ewards, Arran Chiefs and Arran - Victors.The potatoes that grow best in the district are :-
Kerrs - Pinks, Arn - Banners and Majectics.
