- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)path and the women on the otherElizabeth Mary Bates died 1835 left 72,000 £ for the buildings in Gracehill. Almost all the black stone chiselled buildings in the (Moravian Settlement) in Gracehill were built from this money.The stones (tomb stones) in this graveyard are all lying flat on the ground and some of them are nearly 200 years old.
Two stones near the gate as you enter are dated 17th September 1760 and one bears the date 1738.It sounds very peculiar to hear of perhaps the father of the family buried on the left hand side of the path, the mother away on the right hand side, the baby girls on same side as their mother, etc but in different graves, so that a family is scattered here and there.This village contained one of the first seats of learning in Ulster.
