It is said that the young swallows leave two or three weeks before the older ones.
Some of them die on their journey.
They go to South Africa. They cross the Mediterranean Sea and the Sahara Desert until they reach their old native land. When the swallows swoop close to the ground it is a bad sign of the weather. Crows and rooks collect in numbers. They scream and call and fly low along the ground, people say that is a sign of a storm.
