During the month of August and September lots of people set snares in the fields and glens. Larger and stronger snares are made to catch hares and badger. A dull is set to catch snipe. Three horse hairs are plaited together; then a running loop is put on the end of it.
Three dulls are made like that; then the three are tied on a straight stick about eighteen inches long.
This stick is left flat on the ground on a very Marshy place with the loops over small holes of water; then two forked sticks are got
