Willie G Toland
Told by Fanny Toland afed 54 years. The following lines were written long ago to commemorate
an exploit of Shan Crossa at Dugiven, County Derry, where he
relieved an English Officer of his valuables and accoutrements
because the officer boasted that Shaun could not possibly
succeed in so doing. (1)
Shauns bold manoevres much talk afforded,
Of his exploits one I'll relate,
An English General, it is recorded,
Was robbed by Crossa one evening late.(2)
The Inn he called at he boasted greatly,
If he would meet with this robber bold,
He would arrest him and would convey him,
To Derry jail through heat or cold.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
