The fair was held quarterly but the most notable of these fairs was held on the 1st. day of January, and people not only from Donegal but from the whole of the North of Ireland came to it. Cattle were ranging from one to two pounds and horses were about treble this price. Sheep and pigs were also bought and sold at a low rate. Prices were bad but everything was cheap. Whiskey was only one shilling a pint, and on this account everybody became drunk and quarrels and fighting were very common.
There was a pedlar going around who had a very valuable pack of silks, and who was supposed to be very rich. A few days before the fair the pedlar came around selling his silks and asking(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
