The tailor used a needle, a spool, a thimble, scissors and pressing irons which was then called an iron goose.
Shirts were made in the homes but none are made in my district now. They used home woven cloth. In very olden times flax grown locally was made into cloth but very few who are living now remember this being done. Socks and stockings are knitted locally in some homes. The thread used to be spun in the homes but not now in my district. There are about 20 spinning wheels in the district.
No special types of clothes are worn on any occasion except at a death, when the near relations of the deceased person wear black for mourning.- Bailitheoir
