- There are three old graveyards in our parish. There is one in Templemoyle, one in Drumcarbit and one in Malin Head.
The one in Drumcarbit was used for burying children that were not baptised.
The graveyard in Templemoyle was not used since the year 1819.
The last person buried in it was a man. This is the inscription on his grave: -
James McGuiness
Died Jan 25 1819
Age fifty yearsThe people of Malin Head did not know about the graveyard in their district until one day the man in which whose farm the graveyard was began to plough the plot.
He at once started to turn up bones of human beings. He then understood that this must be an old graveyard and he filled it up again.
None of these graveyards are in use now.- Bailitheoir
