- The writer of the following was Neil McLaughlin Cracknagh. I understand he was a medical student and died young about 30 years of age or perhaps earlier. Born approximately 1855 died 1885. As the title shows it is a lament for his two departed sisters who died rather young. Another sister of his Rose McLaughlin died at Leiter Culdaff in November of this year 1938.Evening Thoughts On The Departed Written at the grave of two sistersAh I now too sad when evening's sun is sinking in the west,
And shadows sleep like fallen clouds on you green valley's breast,
To stand beside the now made graves of those we loved so well.
And silently express by tears the thoughts no words can tell.There is no time more meet than this to think upon the dead,
When over you dark and distant hill the sun's last rays are shed;
And rock and [?] and all around in night's descending gloom,
Enjoy like those who slumber here the silence of the tomb.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
