- Long ago if a child got the whooping cough the parents used to pass him under an asses belly, and it used to cure the child. It is also said if a person asks a cure of a man whom they see passing with a white horse for a cure for the whooping cough, and whatever cure he gives it will cure the child. It was an old custom to put some sugar and oat-meal in a young baby's mouth, and whatever remains will be a cure for the whooping cough for twelve months.
A person who rups his tongue of a lizard can keep a burn from blistering by rubbing his tongue of it. It is a great cure for vomiting to clean the skins of the gizard of a fowl and boil it in hot milk the juice stops the vomiting. A person who suffers from teeth-ache can be cured by rubbing a frog of the gums.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
