Ar an leathanach seo

  1. The following industries were the chief means of livelihood of the ancestors of the people of Rush: - embroiderey, designing, basket making, stocking making, weaving, bulb growing, wheel making, potato growing, fish curing, wheel making, potato growing, fish curing, thatching and fishing.
    Some eighty years ago beautiful embroidery work (tanbow) was executed in Rush, but with the progress of time it died out.
    Basket-making was a very important industry which helped both the fishing and potato growing industries. The baskets were used to catch shell fish and they also served to carry both the fish and potatoes to the markets. They were made from sallies and willow reeds which are still seen growing wild throughout the neighbourhood.
